Connect GitHub
1
Open Integrations
Open the user menu (bottom left) and go to Developer → Integrations, or go straight to app.vern.so/integrations.
2
Click Connect GitHub
GitHub opens and asks where to install the Vern App. Pick your organisation or account.
3
Choose the repositories
Choose Only select repositories and pick the ones Vern may read — or All repositories if you prefer. You can change this later in GitHub.
4
Back in Vern
Click Install. GitHub sends you back to Integrations, with the account listed under GitHub.
Connecting and disconnecting is Admin-only. Everyone on the team can see what’s connected and link the repos to a job. See Team for roles.
Use it in Home
In Home, click the repository icon next to the paperclip and pick one or more repositories (search by name). Each shows as a green pill next to your attached files. Send your message and the agent:- looks through the repository’s files,
- reads READMEs, docs and mapping rules,
- turns what it finds into the right knowledge and templates — proposed as a plan, with knowledge changes as diffs you approve,
- copies any data files it needs (for example sample CSVs) into the conversation, so they can be imported.
.env files, keys or tokens — into Vern.
Change which repositories Vern sees
Vern only sees the repositories the GitHub app is installed on. To add or remove some, open GitHub → your organisation’s Settings → GitHub Apps → Vern App → Configure.Disconnect
On Integrations, click the disconnect button next to the account. Vern uninstalls its GitHub app from that account and deletes its stored access straight away. Connects and disconnects are recorded in your audit log.Security
- GitHub access tokens are short-lived and created only when the agent reads a repository. Nothing long-lived is stored for GitHub.
- Repository contents the agent reads are used for that job; only what you approve is saved as knowledge or templates.
- Data stays in your account’s data region.
