A source labels the legacy system your customer’s data is coming from — for example, “ServiceM8”, “Workday”, or “Salesforce”. Sources are optional. Vern doesn’t connect to them or sync against them. You’re just tagging a company with where its data originally lived.

Why bother

The second customer you onboard from a given source is dramatically faster than the first. When Vern’s import agent generates a migration plan for a customer, it stores the portable parts of that plan (the “recipe”) against the source. The next time you onboard a customer tagged with the same source, the agent starts from that recipe instead of from scratch. In practice: your first ServiceM8 migration takes the longest. Your tenth is mostly automatic.

Add one

Go to Sources and click New source.
  1. Give it a name your team will recognize.
  2. Optionally upload a logo and pick a brand color.
  3. Save.

Tag a company

When you create a company, pick the matching source. From then on, every import for that company benefits from any plans previously generated for other companies using the same source. You can also re-tag an existing company by editing its Properties.
